In a rare interview, Masamune Shirow — creator of Ghost in the Shell — surprised viewers by revealing that he prefers the second film, Innocence, to the first in the franchise. According to him, the reason is simple: the second film more clearly expresses the unique style of director Mamoru Oshii, something Shirow deeply admires.

During the conversation, the author also revealed that he has written several original proposals for manga, anime, and even games. However, these projects have encountered production obstacles, preventing them from being realized so far. Shirow did not detail what the obstacles were, but made it clear that his creative involvement remains active.

Furthermore, he took the opportunity to clarify an important point. In the afterword to volume 26 of Pandora in the Crimson Shell, Shirow stated that he is not involved with the new Ghost in the Shell anime being produced by Studio Science Saru—information that surprised many fans.

Despite the challenges, the mind behind one of the greatest cyberpunk works continues to produce and conceive new stories. Shirow's fans still have much to look forward to in the future.
