My name is Rafael Alves, known as Shinzo. I created the AnimeNew website in 2009 to offer news about anime, manga, and games directly from Japan.

The head of BC.MAY studio, responsible for the anime Lord of the Mysteries , shared his thoughts on the development of the series' initial episodes.

As he explained, the script required difficult strategic decisions. However, ending the fight against the Clown in episode 3 was a mandatory decision from the beginning of production. This relates to the well-known " three-episode rule ," widely used by fans to assess whether it's worth continuing to watch an anime or donghua .

He revealed that there were painful concessions made in the writing of the first chapters. While necessary, these adjustments left some points feeling rushed or incomplete, which may have frustrated some of the audience.

However, the director stated that he feels much more satisfied with the development of the following episodes. Episodes such as 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 better reflect what the team intended to deliver to the audience. According to him, the narrative finds a more consistent rhythm and depth from that point on.

Regarding the technical challenge, he highlighted that Episode 1 was undeniably the most complex to produce. This was because he needed to establish the universe, the characters, and the enigmatic atmosphere of the work, all in a short amount of time.

So, if you're still undecided about LOTM, it's worth watching until episode 4 to get a true feel for the animation's premise.

Synopsis:

The narrative revolves around Zhou Mingrui , who finds himself transported into the body of Klein Moretti , a historian in an alternate world with Victorian aesthetics. However, upon awakening, Zhou realizes he has inherited both the memories and the mysteries surrounding the life of the real Klein—including the fact that he had taken his own life. While trying to understand his new reality, Klein delves into a society where mystical rituals, prophecies, Artifacts, and creatures known as Beyonders dominate the shadows of the world.
