The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has been around for almost 40 years . That's a long time, especially for a manga that effectively redefines its cast from scratch with each iteration. Over those decades, JoJo has amassed a huge roster of friendly (and not-so-friendly) faces in a narrative led by nine different Joestars. These characters JoJo 's titular superstars time and again, but for one reason or another, they are often overlooked by fans. So, check out some of the characters most fans have rejected!
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure characters that fans dislike – Top 10
10. Narancia

Narancia is one of the most brilliant members of Golden Wind on all levels—unfortunately, in a dark-toned role, his brilliance often becomes mere comedy. In everyday life, he is described as naive, simple-minded, and immature compared to the rest of Team Bucciarati. In terms of combat, he's already in a rather disadvantageous position: Aerosmith is one of the most underrated Stands in JoJo , and in a team with flashy and mind-blowing Stands like Gold Experience, Sticky Fingers, and Sex Pistols, he's going to fall short.
In some ways, Narancia resembles Hol Horse, both in being relegated to mere comic relief and in having an immensely underrated Stand. Narancia's presence in a group full of strong personalities is crucial for balance, and his backstory is both poignant and strangely inspiring. Narancia is a shining example of an amazing character, for all the wrong reasons.
9. Muhammad Avdol

Many would say that Jotaro carries Stardust Crusaders , and yes, he is very important. But we think Avdol deserves the same recognition. Since his first appearance – as an Egyptian seer alongside the British-American Joseph Joestar in Japan – Avdol serves as a representative of the truly global implications of Dio's rebirth. His Stand, Magician's Red, is often overlooked because, despite being a short-range powerhouse, it's quite common compared to the eccentric Stands Araki would conjure even in Stardust Crusaders .
Even so, Avdol is a powerhouse and, in many ways, represents the spirit of the third part of JoJo . From having one of the first Stands that JoJo ever saw, to the lightness he brings in moments like being captured in Moriah's magnetic Stand alongside Joseph, to the melodrama he manages to evoke in moments like his dramatic "resurrection," Avdol embodies everything there is to love about Stardust Crusaders . He serves as a literal and spiritual guide during their journeys, and his wisdom, strength, and charm make him unforgettable.
08. Trish

Trish embodies wasted potential, yet still manages to be an intriguing highlight of Golden Wind . Fans will remember her as Diavolo's daughter, who plays a substantial role in the plot of Golden Wind , to say the least. Despite becoming central to the story and eventually joining Giorno's team, Trish has very little time in the spotlight for her own personal exploration.
It's a shame for two main reasons. First, because her Stand, Spice Girl, is unique in its awareness and lethal with its unique set of abilities; not to mention that its humanoid design makes it seem like the Stand of a complete protagonist (and in terms of design, Stone Free is one step away from being Spice Girl). Second, because she's in a position in the story to tell a story that no one else can. Instead, she had to fight once before being relegated to a supporting role.
07. Jonathon Joestar (Phantom Blood)

JoJo 's most underrated protagonist on the list. Ever since JoJo started gaining traction with Western audiences a few years ago, internet forum users have been asking if the first part of JoJo, Phantom Blood , can be ignored. It's true that Phantom Blood doesn't consider the series fully adapted to the themes and resources it would later adopt. But, from the beginning, JoJo found the perfect crystallization of its ideals in Jonathan, and he retains much of his goofy charm to this day.
Ambitious, noble, and approaching the (then) absolute limit of human potential, while simultaneously defending himself against paranormal threats, Jonathon exemplified and solidified the qualities that would come to represent the franchise as a whole: he fights for humanity purely out of love for humanity and its ideals. He may not be as mischievous as Joseph or as serene as Jotaro, but his construction as a classic shonen hero makes him feel like a bridge between "common" shonen and the very special and bizarre manga that he himself establishes.
06. Hol Horse

Hol Horse is one of the highlights of Stardust Crusaders , and it's true that fans love him—but, as the title above says, they often don't appreciate him enough. It's true that Hol Horse is one of the most interesting villains in Stardust Crusaders . He has a set of principles he adheres to, he's not "evil" or "corrupted" like many of the villains in Stardust Crusaders are portrayed, and he's right on the verge of redemption.
Not to mention that he's hilarious. Hol Horse is genuinely very fun to watch, and his Stand is pleasantly simple. But the problem lies in limiting him to his comedic role and seeing him only within the scope of Stardust Crusaders . The fact is that in several parts of JoJo , at least up to Diamond is Unbreakable , few characters have the dimension and nuance that Hol Horse has. He's interesting, unpredictable, and charming in a way that only JoJo's hyper-masculine shonen roots could bring together.

05. Foo Fighters

Another crucial choice by Stone Ocean , Foo Fighters is one of the most interesting characters Araki has ever written. The frozen humanoid formed from countless plankton, Foo Fighters, is positioned as a character with human intellect, but completely devoid of human experience. Jolyne and her team first encounter her when she is in Pucci's service, but she eventually becomes friends with JoJo .
This is where her role becomes truly irreplaceable. Through Foo Fighter's naiveté and sincerity, Araki explores the personalities of Jolyne and her entire entourage. When Foo Fighter dies, sacrificing his last strength to save Anasui, she becomes a constant figure (and an inseparable friend) in the main cast of Stone Ocean . The tragedy is compounded by the uncertainty of her fate in the new universe.
04. Wamuu

Of all the Pillar Men in Battle Tendency , Wamuu stands out. Wamuu is great precisely because he's different from the other Pillar Men: he has a set of principles that he will follow no matter what happens. While he doesn't have such a high opinion of humans themselves, he loves fighting and honor above all else; a human who fights fairly is good to him. Unfortunately, with how quickly the first two parts pass—especially in their respective anime iterations—his presence is easily forgotten.
Wamuu is a central character in Battle Tendency for a central reason that easily goes unnoticed in retrospect: if he had faltered, even for a moment, in his dedication to honor, the role would have ended very differently. It is because of Wamuu's respect for Joseph (and consequently, his willingness to hand over the antidote) that the latter survives to the end of the role. In our hearts, we know that Wamuu's honorable warrior spirit made Caesar's tragic death after one of JoJo easier to bear for Joseph as well.

03. Risotto

Risotto is beloved for his role in one of the most electrifying fights not only in Golden Wind , but in JoJo in general. And, of course, his confrontation with Doppio/Diavolo is macabre and brutal. It's obvious why he would be remembered above all else. However, what makes Risotto so special is the way he gets into the confrontation, which is much easier to forget.
For the sake of space, we will avoid dumping information here. However, suffice it to say that Risotto's personality is remarkably stable, shrewd, and serious. The fact that he is incredibly good at what he does only fuels the fire of his competent and daring leadership. He manages to organize the team as a threat, generating absurd pressure—not only on Team Bruno, but on Diavolo himself. Risotto brings much more to the surface than fans usually realize—enough to safely say that he is one of the highlights of the role.
02. Yukako Yamagishi

Yukako Yamagishi's reception generally oscillates between indifferent pleasure and extreme disdain. Few people embrace Yukako, however. Looking a little beyond the surface, she is much deeper than many fans consider her. In a way, yes, she is a classic example of the yandere archetype—but the way she is written elevates her to a genuine story of insecurity. Her motivation and obsession with being framed by the cage of female gender norms and expectations is, ultimately, quite opaque: her power is literally built around her hair.
Although her behavior towards Koichi is obviously inexcusable, there are nuances in her portrayal: a nuance that only intensifies when she and Koichi resolve their differences, find understanding, and Yukako's role develops. Far from being a crutch for Koichi's own narrative development, Yukako is a brilliant demonstration of the mundane claustrophobia of femininity; moreover, she is also one of the many characters who, in their exploration, remind fans of the life that pulsates behind the scenes of Morioh.
01. Ermes

Ermes has one of the most original writing styles in the entire first JoJo universe. Starting with Diamond Is Unbreakable , the characterization of the main JoJo became exponentially stronger than in the first three parts. Both Golden Wind and Stone Ocean carried this torch until the premature end of the original universe. However, throughout virtually all of Part 6, Ermes serves as a critical counterpoint to Jolyne, and each of them plays a brilliant duo, drawing out the thorniest parts of the other's personality.
But there are simpler reasons to love Ermes. First, nobody mentions how absolutely powerful Kiss is as a Stand. During the final confrontation with Pucci, hers is the only Stand immune to Pucci's gravity. Second, her revenge arc with Sports Maxx is among the most compelling stories in Stone Ocean . That's no easy honor to claim in a role brimming with complicated backstories and present-day consequences, but Ermes' story truly shines.
