The long-awaited live-action adaptation of 5 centimeters per second , masterpiece by Makoto Shinkai , has just received his first official trailer. In addition, two new posters and important names in the children's cast were revealed.
The promotional video begins with the protagonist, Takaki Tōno, stopped at a cross from Shinjuku, while narrating: “I'm always looking for traces of that time somewhere.” The melody that packs the scene is a rewritten version of the song “One More Time, One More Chance” , now played by Fumitake Ezaki, a composer responsible for the trail of the new movie.
New scenes and visual nostalgia on teaser
The trailer explores the urban daily life at sunset, the brightness of summer, the line of the seaside train and flashes of the protagonist's childhood. The most touching moment comes with the narration of little Akari, which says: "The speed is five centimeters per second. It is what the cherry petals fall." The phrase gently rescues the symbolism of the title.
In addition, two young talents have been confirmed in the cast: Yuto Ueda will live Takaki Child and Noa Shirayama will play the children's version of Akari. Both expressed enthusiasm for being part of the adaptation of such an iconic work.
Marked debut and consecrated direction
The anime version, released in 2007, told Takaki's emotional journey over the course of 18 years, divided into three parts. However, the new production will be a unique feature film starring Hokuto Matsumura , a member of the Sixtoes Group. The direction is Yoshiyuki Okuyama , with script by Fumiko Suzuki .
The official launch in Japanese theaters is scheduled for October 10th . Therefore, fans can already prepare to revive, in flesh and bone, one of the most melancholic and poetic stories of Japanese animation.
