Anime that would never exist if the characters went to therapy

Death Note

First, if a mental disorder could be interpreted by any character, narcissism would be Light Yagami, the main character of Death Note.
Among the listed symptoms of the disorder, we can include: an excessive need for admiration, lack of empathy, inability to handle criticism, a sense of grandiosity, and a desire to be recognized as superior. Thus,
Light begins as an ordinary boy. However, throughout the anime, his actions and personality change in the face of the notebook's power. Furthermore, this power helps him develop his personality disorder further, reaching the point of becoming the "God of the new world."
Therefore, therapy could help him deal with the disorder and how he interacts with society in the face of his narcissistic desires. In this context, even if he found the book, he would learn how dangerous the power he possesses is and that he has no right to manipulate people's lives in the way he did during the plot.

Steins;Gate

The anime tells the story of Okabe, who proclaims himself a mad scientist. He accidentally discovers a rather unusual way to travel through time, using a modified microwave oven and a cell phone.

Thus, throughout the anime, Okabe demonstrates various compulsive and obsessive behaviors that lead to the conclusion of the plot. However, what starts the whole story is the obsession he develops with time travel and defying scientists of the time, which leads him to develop his own laboratory and begin conducting experiments.

Thus, therapy would help the character better cope with his obsessions, which would help him have better interpersonal relationships within the scientific community. In this way, it would be possible for him, allied with other scientists, with more extensive research and better infrastructure, to develop his time travel theory in a much more favorable environment, avoiding the main events of the anime.

Fruits Basket

This anime tells the story of Tohru Honda, who tragically loses her mother in an accident. Destitute and unable to temporarily live at her grandfather's house, she decides to build a shack and live there without telling anyone.
This decision becomes central to the plot, leading her to meet her classmates Yuki Souma and her cousin Shigure. She begins living with them and witnesses the entire storyline centered around the family curse, which involves the animals of the Chinese zodiac.

On the other hand, if the girl had received psychological support, she probably wouldn't have fallen into such a deep depression to the point of wanting to isolate herself from everyone. In a way, distancing herself from her family, the only ones at that moment who could support her.
Some stages of grief cause people to sink into feelings like depression, anger, or denial. Thus, Tohru demonstrated being trapped in these stages; denying help from her family was a way of denying everything that had happened, and that somehow, things could continue as they were before her mother's death.
In this way, by accepting help from family or friends, she probably wouldn't have met Yuki and Shigure's house, which would drastically change the events of the anime.

Yu-Gi-Oh!

Now, here's an example of an entire society that needed therapy.

The anime takes place in a world dominated by games, the most popular being "Duel Monsters." Society essentially revolves around the game, demonstrating that at some point in history, the entire population became addicted and almost enslaved by the cards. Furthermore, we see people completely obsessed with the game, believing that everything can be decided by a single game

Gambling addiction is a serious issue in anime, with people betting everything from enormous sums of money to the souls of family members.
Things get so strange that the bandits don't rob you with weapons, but through DUELS.
In this context, you might question what about the history of the pharaohs, Egyptian gods, Millennium Items, and everything else? But they probably still existed even if the characters went to therapy. Still, what we question is the decadent way humanity is transformed by gambling and betting addiction.
Thus, gambling addiction is a serious matter, as our bodies are very prone to becoming addicted to things that give us pleasure, and large corporations know exactly how to exploit these vulnerabilities.

Anime that would never have existed if the characters went to therapy – Top 3

91 Days

Here, the story follows Angelo Lagusa, whose family was murdered due to a mafia dispute.
Years later, the protagonist receives a letter proposing revenge, which makes his main life motivation avenging the murder of the mafia. Initially, Angelo infiltrates the mafia family and tries to gain their trust.
Grief is a recurring theme in anime and often motivates the characters' actions. Furthermore, the character's lack of psychological support leads him to intensely experience his desire for revenge.
In other words, Angelo needed to undergo some work to accept his family's death, however painful it may seem, to understand that what was done is irreversible and that revenge would only worsen the situation.

Castlevania

Now, the animation is based on the games released in the late 80s and popularized in the 90s. Furthermore, it tells the story of Dracula and his army of demons who plan the destruction of humanity after the murder of his wife.
Thus, Castlevania is yet another story about an unbearable desire for revenge stemming from unresolved grief after the death of someone important, which motivates the character throughout the plot.

naruto

Finally, the anime tells the story of Naruto and his entire development into becoming a ninja. However, all of his motivation is based on the bullying he constantly faces.
Therefore, the anime received an honorable mention because throughout the plot the character's motivations change, and even if he underwent therapy to help him with the bullying, he would likely discover other motivations to become Hokage.

Finally, I hope you had fun and if you liked it, I'll bring a second part, see you next time!!!
