During the beta phases held in August and September, players got a preview of some of the maps and modes that will be in the full game. With only eight maps available in the beta version, the arsenal of weapons and equipment was limited, restricting the player experience. Now, with the launch approaching, all the details have finally been revealed, including the complete list of maps and modes that will be available on day one.
Maps and multiplayer modes of Black Ops 6
The game will have 16 maps at launch, 12 of which are designed for 6v6 matches. These maps include Babylon, Derelict, Lowtown, Payback, Protocol, Redcard, Rewind, Scud, Skyline, Subsonic, Vault , and Vorkuta. In addition, four smaller maps, called Strike, will be available for 2v2 and 6v6 modes: Gala, Pit, Stakeout , and Warhead , focusing on close-quarters combat.
Nuketown, a classic map from the series, will arrive on November 1st, a week after the game's launch, further expanding the map options available for matches. Additional maps are planned for release in future updates, with more details scheduled for October 23rd.
Popular game modes return
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will bring back several multiplayer modes that have captivated players over the years. Among the main 6v6 modes available are Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search & Destroy, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Headquarters, Kill Order, and Control. The Free-For-All and Gunfight will be available for eight-player and 2v2 matches, respectively.
In addition to the standard modes, the game will feature alternative versions such as Face Off for Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Order , and Kill Confirmed Hardcore versions for most 6v6 modes, with the exception of Headquarters and Control . To train and hone their skills, players will have access to the Training Course and the return of the Firing Range Private Match and Theater Mode options .
Future content and expansions
In addition to the maps and modes already announced, the game will continue to receive updates during the preseason and Season 1. New content, including additional maps and brand-new game modes, is expected to be added over time. However, there is still no confirmation regarding the return of large-team modes like Ground War . If reintroduced, it will likely bring new maps adapted to the format.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 aims to offer a balanced experience between intense combat and a diversity of maps and modes. The variety at launch promises to cater to both players who prefer small maps and quick matches, as well as those who appreciate tactics and strategies in larger areas. The inclusion of classics like Nuketown and popular modes reaffirms Activision and Treyarch's commitment to maintaining the series' traditional appeal while continuing to introduce new features to attract veterans and new players alike.
