Due to recent news, the live-action Akira has been shelved again, most likely due to the production of Marvel .
Director Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) was in the process of casting the two lead roles from among Japanese actors, and the studio originally delayed the project to allow time for the casting process. However, Variety revealed that there may be "creative differences."
Since The Hollywood Reporter said that Taika Waititi will direct Marvel's Thor 4 movie and that the schedules for the two films became incompatible.
Both the production dates for Thor 4 and Akira were "close," and Warner Bros. hopes to keep Taika Waititi as director of the live-action film after he finishes his work on Thor 4.
Keep in mind that the work will include a 4K remaster of the 1988 film and an anime series in production.
