Unfortunately, the news is terrible for fans who were waiting for the live-action Akira in theaters .
A recent piece of news came out on the Deadline , stating that Warner Bros. has removed the Akira film project from its release calendar.
It is worth remembering that in July the website Variety commented that Warner postponed the film without any prediction and that the film was certain to begin production this fall, and its release was scheduled for May 21, 2021.
Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) was serving as director and had already announced that he would delay production due to Thor: Love And Thunder.
Ultimately, Waititi said in an April 2018 interview that he planned to adapt the original manga as opposed to adapting the anime film.
