Hello, my name is Bruna and I'm passionate about the world of anime and manga. I hope to contribute to the AnimeNew website.

The manga Akira has been confirmed for a return, with the adaptation being produced by Warner Bros. and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. After its production was halted due to budget issues in January 2013 and shelved indefinitely, the project will now resume with the director's return confirmed. No further information regarding release dates or cast has been announced.

Synopsis: In the film, the protagonist Kaneda (a role that would have been played by Hedlund), a bar owner in Neo-Manhattan, is stunned when he discovers that his brother Tetsuo (role still undefined) has been kidnapped by government agents led by the Colonel (a role that would have been played by Ken Watanabe). Desperate to get his brother back, Kaneda agrees to join Ky Reed (a role that would have been played by Kristen Stewart) and the underground movement she belongs to, which plans to reveal to the world what really happened to New York 30 years ago when the city was destroyed. Kaneda thinks these theories are nonsense, but is shocked when he reunites with Tetsuo and discovers that his brother has telekinetic powers – and is at the center of an event that could destroy Neo-Manhattan again.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran are producing alongside Andrew Lazar. Katsuhiro Otomo, the creator of the original manga and director of the 1988 animated film, is the executive producer.
