To the delight of fans, the classic manga " Akira ," an original work by master "Katsuhiro Otomo," will be republished here in Brazil, this time by JBC. The manga is guaranteed a return to our land after 17 years of its complicated launch by Globo.

Akira had been the subject of a long-standing dispute among several publishers due to the author's intention to ban its publication outside Japan. This time, JBC prevailed in this battle. The official launch will take place at the Comic-Con Experience in São Paulo .

The story takes place in Neo-Tokyo, a Tokyo city rebuilt after being destroyed in World War III. As it turns out, World War III was (supposedly) started by the uncontrollable growth of supernatural powers in a child named Akira. In the story's real-life time, 30 years after World War III, a biker gang led by "Kaneda" is embroiled in a fight with a rival gang when the youngest member of Kaneda's gang, Tetsuo, collides on a highway with a mysterious child who had escaped from the government's secret psychic research program. "Tetsuo" is then taken by the leaders of this government program along with the child and subjected to a variety of experiments.
