To the delight of fans, the classic manga “ Akira ”, an original work by the master “Katsuhiro Otomo” will be published again here in Brazil, this time by the publisher JBC. The manga has its guaranteed return in our land after 17 years of its complicated launch by publisher Globo.
It had been a long time since Akira was being fought over by several publishers because the author wanted to ban its publication outside of Japan, this time JBC got the upper hand in this fight. The official launch will take place at the Comic-con Experience in São Paulo .
The story takes place in Neo-Tokyo, a city in Tokyo rebuilt after being destroyed in World War III. As it turns out, World War III was (supposedly) started by the uncontrollable growth of supernatural powers of a child named Akira. In the real time of the plot, 30 years after World War III, a gang of bikers led by “Kaneda” is involved in a fight with the rival gang, when the youngest member of Kaneda's gang, Tetsuo, collides on a highway with a mysterious child who had escaped from the government's secret psychic investigation program. “Tetsuo” is then taken by those responsible for this government program together with the child, and is subjected to the most diverse experiences.
