We finally have the release date for author Katsuhiro Otomo Akira . The giant Warner Bros. (Max Max) promised that the film will arrive on May 21, 2021.
The film is directed by Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) and written by Michael Golamco .
However, the published synopsis did not please the anime .
“When a young boy's telekinesis is discovered by the military, he is taken by them to become a super weapon, and it is up to his brother to rush to his rescue before Manhattan is destroyed by his powers. Kaneda is a bar owner in Neo-Manhattan who is stunned when his brother Tetsuo is abducted by Government agents led by the Colonel. Desperate to get his brother back, Kaneda joins Ky Reed and his illegal movement who aim to reveal to the world what really happened in New York 30 years ago, when it was destroyed.
Kaneda believes their theories are ridiculous, but after facing his brother again, he is shocked when he displays his telekinetic powers. Ky believes Tetsuo is going to free a little boy. Akira, who took control of Tetsuo's mind. Kaneda faces the Colonel's troops in his own way to prevent Tetsuo from freeing Akira, but he arrives too late. Akira quickly escapes from his prison thanks to Tetsuo, while Kaneda races to save his brother before Akira destroys Manhattan Island again, just like he did thirty years ago.”
Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is involved as a producer of the film. It is worth remembering that years ago his name had already been suggested behind the scenes of the production, but it was not confirmed in anything involving acting with any character.
