News about the long-awaited film adaptation of the live-action Akira has resurfaced in full force.
The renowned website Deadline announced that the studio has just signed screenwriter Dante Harper to write the film's script. Harper is behind the story of Edge of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise, a film based on All You Need Is Kill by author Hiroshi Sakurazaka.
The live-action Akira is being directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who has already stated that the film will be anything but faithful to the original. The production is being produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson Killoran, and Andrew Lazar. Katsuhiro Otomo serves as executive producer.
