It looks like the sequel to " Alita: Battle Angel " is indeed happening. In an interview with Screen Rant , Jon Landau ("Avatar"), executive producer of the live-action film adaptation of Battle Angel Alita, confirmed that the sequel is in development.
According to Landau, "We're working on it [...] Alita is a film that, even now, we're very proud of. And we think there are more stories to tell with her character, and that's why we want to return to her."
Synopsis:
The story follows the cyborg Alita, who is discovered by scientist Dyson Ido. Revitalized, she awakens with no memory or recognition of the world she finds herself in. Determined to uncover her past and explore her astonishing combat abilities, Alita becomes a powerful bounty hunter, battling deadly forces.
Finally, the film, released in 2019, is based on the adaptation of the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Yukito Kishiro . The work was also released in Brazil by Editora JBC.
