The Academy released this week a list of 20 films that were selected to compete for the Best Visual Effects award at the 92nd Academy Awards.

James Cameron 's film Alita: Battle Angel is in contention for the coveted statuette in this category. The Academy will select the 10 films for voting later this month.

The new edition of the Oscars takes place on February 9, 2020.

Finally, Alita: Battle Angel (in Portuguese: Alita: Combat Angel) had its premiere in theaters in mid-February 2019, and its work is based on the manga by Yukito Kishiro.

The film was produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau and directed by Robert Rodriguez .
