Expectations of the adaptation of Fire Force
The story evolved significantly in Season 2, with the 8th Fire getting closer to the truth than ever before. Furthermore, the first two seasons were released in consecutive years, with the anime almost catching up with the manga. Therefore, the animation studio behind Fire Force, David Production, decided to delay the third season to allow the story to develop further. However, the manga was completed in 2022, giving the studio enough time to work on the full manga adaptation. The third season will cover several arcs, each bringing the Fire Force one step closer to the truth.
Fire Force 3 will be split into two Cour!
Initially, the third season will conclude the story in two cours. The first cour premiered on April 4, 2025. The second cour is scheduled for release in January 2026 , but the studio has not yet announced an exact release date.
Incidentally, the episode count for both cours remains unknown, but they will cover 130 chapters of the manga. Both anime seasons so far have adapted 174 chapters into 48 episodes. Therefore, if the third season plans to maintain a reasonable pace, both cours combined will need at least 20+ episodes, with 22–24 being the most common estimate for most two-cour anime seasons.
What to expect from the first arc of Fire Force 3?
Season 2 ends with a major cliffhanger, as the White Clad becomes more apparent by the day. Soichiro Hague is a major shock to the Fire Force . While training with Benimaru, Shinra witnesses Hague's death through an Adolla Link. In the post-credits scene, Haumea witnesses a vision where the world is illuminated by a new type of sun, leaving several questions unanswered. Cour 1 will begin with the Obi Rescue Arc, where Company 8 Captain Akitaru Obi was arrested and the entire company branded as criminals.
To make matters worse, Company 1 Captain Leonard Burns is now working with the Evangelist. Shinra and the others will not only face powerful enemies again, but they will also need to stop the venerable Captain Burns, whose intentions remain unclear. The first cour will cover at least the Return to St. Raffles, Arthur's Adventure, Pillars of Stone, and Asakusa Showdown arcs. Each arc will bring a new set of shocking truths about the White Clad members who have been working in the shadows for over two centuries!
