It was in that early morning that the nerd world had that impact, a statement released on Tuesday night made Spider-Man within the Marvel cinematic universe.
The agreement is that the character will appear in a Marvel Studios film and then Sony Pictures will release a new film about the hero on July 28, 2017, which will be co-produced by Kevin Feige (from Marvel Studios) and Amy Pascal (from Sony). The idea is to take the hero in another “creative direction” on screen. Sony will continue to own the rights to Spider-Man (whose franchise has an estimated value of US$4 billion), as well as finance, distribute and have the final say on any film from the friendly neighborhood guy.
At the moment there is no official information whether Andrew Garfield will stay in the role or not (most speculate that he will not), but Deadline states that Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, the franchise's former producers, will continue to be involved in the hero's films and should be announced soon as executive producer.
The statement does not say in which Marvel film Spider-Man will make his debut, but Marvel Studios has announced new dates for its films until 2019: Thor: Ragnarok (November 3, 2017), Black Panther (July 6, 2018), Captain Marvel (November 2, 2018) and Inhumans (July 12, 2019). The Wall Street Journal says who the stubborn guy should appear in Captain America: Civil War, as previously speculated.
