Hours after the announcement of the cancellation of San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Anime Expo 2020 will also be canceled due to COVID-19 in the US. Reports indicate that there have already been more than 600,000 registered cases of the disease in the country, with 34,000 deaths. Official Website

The current event was scheduled to take place in July, in the city of Los Angeles.

Finally, Ray Chiang , organizer of Anime Expo, said plans for the next edition (in 2021) are already underway. The expectation is that something special will be done to celebrate the event's 30th anniversary.
