Episode 12 of Anne Shirley , released on June 21st, brings a new challenge for the protagonist. After a month of teaching at Avonlea School, Anne finally gets used to the students and manages to win them over. However, Marilla brings a new challenge that the two must overcome together. The anime follows the journey of Anne, a dreamy character, from childhood to adulthood. Despite its fast pace, it's fun to watch and realize that, even though it's a work of fiction, it's close to our reality.
A few months after Matthew's death, Anne and Marilla move on and manage the farm together. Furthermore, in the previous episode, Anne gathered the young people of Avonlea to form a Village Improvement Society, further reinforcing her love for the place. Anne also faces challenges as a teacher, as some students misbehave in class. In the current episode, when things seem calmer, Marilla adopts Dora and Davy, twins and children of her deceased relative, which brings new challenges for Anne.
Anne has a new challenge in Avonlea
Anne Shirley has been teaching in Avonlea for a month now. She has high expectations for her students, having also been guided and encouraged by her teacher when she was younger. The protagonist hopes that one of her students will become a writer. Thus, Professor Stacy's influence on Anne's character development is remarkable. It was the care and concern shown by her teacher in the past that motivated the protagonist to want to make a difference in the children's lives.
Besides teaching her students, Anne must guide Davy, a child with no boundaries who loves to play pranks and annoy his sister. When Dora disappears and the boy lies and says he didn't see her, Anne realizes he's crossed the line. Davy had locked his sister in Mr. Harrison's barn, and the little girl is terrified and upset. Anne feels deeply hurt by the boy and confronts him about his actions.
Davy, who desires Anne's affection, promises he'll never lie again and also says he'll act more politely and well-behaved. The episode shows the protagonist's maturation, and she even reminisces with Marilla about some of her own mischief. Anne's childhood flew by, and the anime reveals each stage of her life. However, there's still much to be explored, especially now that Anne has entered adulthood.
The animation, produced by The Answer Studio , maintains the simplicity already presented in previous episodes, but is captivatingly beautiful. The landscapes and settings resemble paintings on canvas, conveying a sense of warmth and tranquility.
Anne Shirley: What to expect from the next episode?
In the next episode, Anne is thrilled to hear that Mrs. Morgan, a famous writer, is coming to Green Gables. However, due to an injury, the writer is unable to attend. To Anne's surprise, the next day, something incredible happens while she's cleaning the house.
Episode 13, titled " When I think something good is going to happen, I seem to soar on the wings of anticipation ," will be released on June 28th on the Crunchyroll streaming platform, with Portuguese subtitles. The first season of the Anne Shirley is scheduled to air 24 episodes, so there's still plenty to see of Anne's journey into adulthood.
