At the beginning of the episode, the anime briefly returns to Matthew's heart attack. Anne's adoptive father, now recovered, can no longer do heavy work. Because of this, the family hires Jerry, a boy who begins to help them with chores. The anime hasn't yet given Jerry much prominence, but in the series Anne with an E , he was a recurring character in the narrative.
Now, Anne is fifteen years old and is very anxious about the Queen's Academy entrance exam, which is getting closer and closer. While she enjoys the wonders of growing up, she realizes that her worries never end and, in fact, are getting bigger.
The results of the Queen's Academy entrance exam
After several months of preparation, Anne finally takes the Queen's Academy entrance exam. Soon after, apprehension grips her as she awaits the results. Furthermore, the protagonist isn't the only one whose emotions are running high. It's moving to watch Marilla gradually feel what every mother feels: the sadness of seeing her child grow up so quickly before her eyes. In Marilla's case, something else also troubles her: the possibility of Anne having to live far away if she gets into Queen's Academy.
Anne, overcome by the fear of not getting a satisfactory grade, loses her appetite and even her most striking characteristic: her talkative personality. When the list of those who passed is finally released, she discovers that she came in first place, along with Gilbert Blythe, her classmate, and her ranking leaves her radiant.

Anne Shirley's recital and the discovery of self-love
Anne is invited to perform at a concert at the White Sands Hotel. The recital is attended by professionals and wealthy people, which makes the protagonist doubt her abilities during the performance. However, as soon as she notices Gilbert and Josie, she takes a deep breath and decides to begin, as she doesn't want to look foolish in front of them.

The audience gives her a standing ovation, marveling at her delivery and profound interpretation of the quote. After all her accomplishments, Anne finally realizes her worth and begins to love herself as she is. Therefore, the episode was titled " I don't want to be anyone but myself ."
The ending of episode 8 was one of the most beautiful in the anime. Furthermore, it has a moving farewell tone, as we know that Anne will no longer see Professor Stacy, who played a very important role in her life, nor will she see her best friend Diana Barry as often. As usual, Anne Shirley teaches us a lot in each episode and also moves us with the way she sees the life around her. In addition, the animation, done by The Answer Studio, resembles paintings on canvas and further enhances the beauty of the narrative.
In episode 9, titled "The best thing after trying your best and winning is trying your best and losing," Anne goes to Queen's Academy and makes new friends. Furthermore, she dedicates herself to her studies to obtain a teaching license and a scholarship. The episode will be released on May 31st on the Crunchyroll streaming platform, with Portuguese subtitles available. Check out the preview on the anime's official channel.
