Better known as Ano Hana, is a 2011 anime produced by A-1 Pictures and directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai. It aired on Fuji TV's noitaminA block between April and June 2011. The anime is licensed in North America by NIS America, where it received its first film in 2013 titled Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day where it retold the story of the anime from the point of view of the main character Menma.
The story of the series revolves around a group of six childhood friends who are separated after one of them, Meiko “Menma” Honma, dies in an accident. Ten years after this tragedy, the group's leader, Jinta Yadomi, isolates himself from society and lives in seclusion. One summer day, however, Menma appears to Jinta, with an older appearance, asking him for help in fulfilling his wish. She believes she needs to accomplish it to fulfill her destiny. But Menma doesn't remember what her wish was, causing Jinta to reunite his childhood friends again, as he believes they are the key to solving this problem. However, hidden feelings, internal conflicts and persistent feelings of sadness for Menma's parents result in complications for the group, as they struggle not only to help Menma, but themselves.
