The website IGN released the first trailer for the CG film Appleseed Alpha, inspired by the science fiction works of author Masamune Shirow (Ghost in the Shell). This new animation will be released directly on DVD and Blu-Ray on July 15th.
Shinji Aramaki is returning to direct this new project; he was responsible for major films such as: “Starship Troopers: Invasion”, “Captain Harlock”, “Appleseed”, and “Appleseed: Ex Machina”.
The film still has no set release date. Titled "Alpha," the new film will be a reboot showing the two characters Deunan and Briareos searching for the legendary lost city of Olympus.
