Ash's victory took place in Alola in the current chapter of the anime
The Pokémon anime has been on the air since 1997 and has gone through countless changes in generation, setting, and characters, but one thing has always remained the same: the protagonist Ash Ketchum has never won a Pokémon League – until now. In the episode aired on September 15th , the character won in Alola and finally became a champion.
During Sunday (15), fans took the opportunity to remember the character's journey, with many pointing out that the decision to make Ash suffer so much is to demonstrate to the children's audience that it is common to fail and learn from their defeats, in order to grow.
Ash's victory also raises some suspicions regarding the anime's continuity. As a new generation of Pokémon approaches with the release of Pokémon: Sword & Shield on the Nintendo Switch , rumors have already begun circulating that the trainer will not be the protagonist of the next animation, which will be called simply Pocket Monsters in Japan – just like the classic 1997 cartoon.
Pokémon anime premieres on September 29th in Japan. Anyway, now Ash can finally rest a bit after achieving his greatest goal.
