Assassin's Creed gets a movie by Ubisoft . The long-awaited film adaptation of the game already has a date to hit theaters. Production company Ubisoft announced that the film starring Michael Fassbender (Magneto in X-Men: First Class) will be released on May 22, 2015. In addition to playing the role of protagonist Desmond , the actor will also be the co-producer of the film . The British Michael Lesslie is the one who will write the script. Production will be carried out by Ubisoft Motion Pictures in partnership with New Regency, with distribution by 20th Century Fox . Assassin's Creed will premiere three weeks after The Avengers 2. For now, the director and the rest of the film's cast have not yet been defined, but should be announced later this year. To protect its franchise and prevent a game from being poorly adapted for the big screen again, Ubisoft will have creative control over production.
