Assassin's Creed is getting a movie from Ubisoft . The highly anticipated film adaptation of the game already has a release date. Ubisoft announced that the film, starring Michael Fassbender (Magneto in X-Men: First Class), will be released on May 22, 2015. In addition to playing the protagonist Desmond , the actor will also co-produce the film. British director Michael Lesslie will write the script. The production will be carried out by Ubisoft Motion Pictures in partnership with New Regency, with distribution by 20th Century Fox . Assassin's Creed will premiere three weeks after The Avengers 2. The director and the rest of the cast have not yet been chosen, but they are expected to be announced later this year. To protect its franchise and prevent another poorly adapted game from being adapted for the big screen, Ubisoft will have creative control over the production.
