A very important piece of information just came out this week: the production of the highly anticipated live-action Shingeki no Kyojin ( Attack on Titan ) revealed that actor Haruma Miura (Kimi ni Todoke) has been cast as the protagonist of the film, playing the character Eren Jaeger .
Sources indicate that the actor is preparing for the start of filming, which will take place in the summer on Hashima Island in Nagasaki, an ideal setting for the new adaptation.
It was also announced that illustrator Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Summer Wars), Takayuki Takeya, and Kouji Tajima (Garo, Captain Harlock) will be responsible for the character designs. Tajima was responsible for creating a poster last year.
The special effects will be handled by Katsuro Onoue (Uchū Kyōda), and Shoji Ehara will be the director of photography. The team is completed by Takashi Sugimoto (Kita no Canaria) on lighting; Tsuyoshi Shimizu (Godzilla, live-action video Girl Ai) as art director; Isao Tsuge (Cutie Honey, Gegege no Kitarō) on makeup; and Shinichi Miter on costumes. The live-action adaptation is directed by Shinji Higuchi, and the screenplay is by Yuusuke Watanabe (Gantz, 20th Century Boys) and Tomohiro Machiyama.
The live-action adaptation of Attack on Titan will arrive in theaters in 2015.
