A very important piece of information has just come out this week, is that the production of the long-awaited Live Action Shingeki no Kyojin ( Attack on Titan ) revealed that the actor Haruma Miura (Kimi ni Todoke) was cast to be the protagonist of the film as the character Eren Jaeger .
Sources indicate that the actor is preparing for the start of filming, which will take place in the summer, on Hashima Island in Nagasaki, the ideal setting for the new adaptation.
It was also announced that illustrators Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Summer Wars), Takayuki Takeya, and Kouji Tajima (Garo, Captain Harlock) will be responsible for the character designs. Tajima created a poster last year.
Katsuro Onoue (Uchū Kyōda) will be responsible for special effects, and Shoji Ehara will be the cinematographer. Completing the team are Takashi Sugimoto (Kita no Canaria) for lighting; Tsuyoshi Shimizu (Godzilla, live-action video Girl Ai) as art director; Isao Tsuge (Cutie Honey, Gegege no Kitarō) for makeup; and Shinichi Miter for costumes. The live-action film is directed by Shinji Higuchi, and the script is by Yuusuke Watanabe (Gantz, 20th Century Boys) and Tomohiro Machiyama.
The live-action Shingeki no Kyojin will hit theaters in 2015.
