Attack on Titan – Eren's voice actor discusses the protagonist's controversial decision

Yuki Kaji was asked what the most memorable scenes were that he experienced throughout his voice acting career. The first scene that came to his mind was Eren's regret for killing so many innocent people.
Check it out:
“Eren’s words of regret when he’s about to kill someone in the final part. The conflicts divide us between ‘friends and other people,’ but other people also have their own lives. I realized this again when he said ‘I’m sorry,’ with tears in his eyes. It was very difficult for me to understand his painful feelings.”
In that scene, Eren cries and shows how guilty he feels watching everyone in front of him being brutally killed by him. His voice actor also states in the interview that he immersed himself as deeply as possible in his emotions to bring that scene to life.
“For voice actors, crying scenes are fine, as long as they look like they’re crying. But this time, I really couldn’t stop crying. I was so in tune with his feelings that I had to stop recording. It was a shocking experience for me, both as a performer and as an experience in my life as a voice actor. I had never done anything like it before. I will forget the joy of becoming one with the role and the pain of knowing that he did it.”
