Pony Canyon began airing a promotional video for Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin). Hajime Isayama launched the manga in Bessatsu Shōnen in 2009. The manga became such a success that Kodansha USA began publishing it in the United States.
Synopsis : Several decades ago, humanity was nearly wiped out by the sudden appearance of humanoid beings known as Titans. Creatures of enormous size and seemingly low intelligence, they ate humans for pleasure. However, a small group of humans survived within a city protected by walls three times the height of the largest Titans recorded to date. For 107 years, the fortified city witnessed unsuccessful Titan attacks, until one day, young Eren Jaeger and his adoptive sister, Mikasa Ackerman, witnessed the appearance of a colossal Titan, opening one of the city's outer walls, allowing a large group of smaller Titans to enter. Both children witnessed the horror of seeing their mother eaten alive by one of them. Since that day, Eren has sworn revenge on each and every one of the Titans.
