After a barrage of negative reviews for the anime series The Beginning After the End , author TurtleMe decided to break his silence and speak directly to fans. According to him , " it was necessary to speak out ."
Reddit post shortly before his appearance at Sakura-Con , TurtleMe thanked everyone for their support over the years and recalled the story's journey, which began as a novel and later became a webcomic. He emphasized that he was involved in every step of these adaptations—something that unfortunately wasn't repeated in the anime. " I've learned that in the anime industry, it's rare for the author to have a say in the creative process ," he commented .
The creator acknowledged that the animated project went through many stages before it came to fruition. However, despite criticism from those involved, such as Tapas , Crunchyroll , and the studio A-CAT , everyone contributed their own visions for the anime. " Creative differences are inevitable, but I believe everyone did their best, " he stated .
Regarding requests to remake the anime, TurtleMe was blunt: “ Just like with a story, a pet, or a child, we don’t want it to disappear in the face of difficulties — we face them and move on. ”
Despite criticism of the animation quality and comparisons to Solo Leveling, TurtleMe asked for respect and patience. " I'm human, and not every decision turns out perfectly. But I deeply respect your support. "
