Act-Age author arrested on suspicion of harassment

Broadcaster NHK reported that the author of act-age , Tatsuya Matsuki (29), was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female elementary school student.

According to NHK, police reported that the girl was walking in the Nakano area of Tokyo on June 18 at 8 p.m. when the suspect approached her from behind and touched her inappropriately. The suspect then fled.

The girl went to the police, who reviewed the security camera footage to investigate. Police discovered from the video that about an hour later, a similar incident occurred on a nearby street with another student, involving the suspect who resembled Matsuki.

According to police, Matsuki told police there was “nothing wrong” with his accusations.

Matsuki and artist Shiro Usazaki launched the act-age manga in Shueisha 's Weekly Shonen Jump in January 2018, with 12 volumes to date.

Synopsis

An acting agency holds an event to find new talent, where Kei Yonagi, a young woman with no media experience, decides to try her luck. When she fails to convince the jury of her work, she decides that the best thing for her and her family is to find a stable job and abandon her dream.

Additionally, the manga was nominated for the 43rd annual Manga Awards in 2019, and is inspiring a play that will premiere in 2022.
