The direction comes from Lauren Montgomery , who worked in "Avatar" and "The Legend of Korra", alongside Codirector William Mata . The script is being written with direct collaboration from the creators of the series, which will certainly make fans even more excited.
Renewed cast, but with purpose
Although none of the original voice actors returns, Retast's decision was made to reflect the cultural roots of the series more faithfully, inspired by Asian and Indigenous Traditions. Actress Mae Whitman , Katara's original voice, publicly supported the change. After all, as she said herself, "it is important to evolve and seek what is true and honest."
Production is divided between Flying Bark Productions (Australia) and Studio Mir (South Korea) studios. The film will use traditional 2D animation with CGI touches to maintain the iconic visual style of the series, but with a modern cinematic clothing.
