Although the show has three initial seasons (totaling 61 episodes), Avatar: The Last Airbender has earned a place among the most popular animated series of all time. The series received a sequel titled The Legend of Korra, which followed the Avatar who succeeded Aang. Beyond its success on screen, these titles spawned a franchise that expanded into books and comics.
Avatar: The Last Airbender has Albert Kim (The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Nikita) as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. The Netflix version of the animated series follows the journey of young Aang, a young Avatar who must learn to master the four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, and Air) to restore balance to a world threatened by the terrible Fire Nation.
