During BitSummit, a gaming festival taking place in Kyoto, Keiji Inafune and his gaming company announced their newest 2D game, Azure Striker Gunvolt, which is coming to the Nintendo 3DS on the eShop this summer.
The developers describe the game's story: The story takes place in the near future, a new type of psychic power has emerged, a boy named Gunvolt has joined a rebel force with the aim of freeing the world from Sumeragi's control. Gunvolt's ability is to fire lightning. He can fire lightning rods at his enemies, said the game's creator.
One day, Gunvolt is ordered to kill virtual pop star Lumen. But he discovers that Lumen is the avatar of Joule, a psychic girl. He hesitates to kill her, and this changes her fate.
Gunvolt can attack using "Dart Leader" aimed shots and "Raigeki-rin", a charged electrical attack that can slowly injure opponents.
Inafune serves as executive producer and action supervisor for the game. Yoshihisa Tsuda (Megaman X2, Megaman Zero) is directing, Yoshitaka Hatakeyama (Megaman 9) is responsible for art, Ippo Yamada is providing the music, and Takuya Aizu is producing the game.
Remembering that Keiji Inafune is still working on his side-scrolling adventure Mighty No. 9 , an action game for PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS, PC, Mac, Linux, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One.
