Masanori Morita will launch a mini-series of the manga Beshari Gurashi in the July 31 issue. The information was revealed in this year's 23rd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump on May 9. This new manga story will take place after the final chapter of the original manga.
The manga's story revolves around Keisuke Agatsuma, a high school student who may not be very smart, but has an incredible sense of comedy. He is the self-proclaimed king of laughter at school and enjoys making everyone laugh, but a future as a comedian seems impossible because of his father's attitude. One day, a former comedian Jun Tsujimoto transfers from Osaka to his school. They see how interesting the ideas they both have are and become interested in forming a stand up combo. While trying to achieve their goal, other comedians seem to ignore Keisuke's skills for one reason or another and their motivation rises and falls, but they still want to become professionals together.
Masanori Morita launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2005 and ended it in March 2015. Shueisha published 19 compiled book volumes for the series. The manga is inspiring a new television series adaptation that will debut in July.
Morita also created the Rookies manga, which inspired a live-action television series in 2008, and Rookies: Graduation in 2009.
