BL film “Umibe no Étranger” reveals trailer and visual

The official website for the anime film Umibe no Étranger ( L'étranger du Plage or The Stranger on the Beach ), inspired by the manga of the same name by Kanna Kii, revealed a trailer and a visual this Thursday.

Synopsis

The story focuses on Mio, a high school student who lost his parents at a young age. Shun, an aspiring gay novelist who lives near Mio's home on a remote island in Okinawa, notices Mio sitting for hours on a bench at the beach. They grow closer, but Mio has to leave Okinawa. Three years later, Mio returns to confront his true feelings.

Staff

Taishi Murata is voicing Shin Hashimoto in the film, while Yoshitsugu Matsuoka is voicing Mio Chibana and Yu Shimamura is voicing Sakurako.

Akiyo Ohashi is directing the film at Studio Hibari, and is also serving as screenwriter and storyboard artist. Kii, a former animator, is supervising the film and also doing the character design. Mayumi Watanabe is the animation director, while Takashi Hashimoto is the effects animation director. Composer and musician Mina Kubota ( A Whisker Away ) is composing the film's music. The band MONO NO AWARE is performing the theme song “Zokkon” (From the Bottom of My Heart). The band wrote the song specifically for the film.

The film will premiere on September 11th in Japan.

Finally, Umibe no Étranger is Kanna Kii's debut manga, serialized in Shodensha's On Blue magazine in 2013. Kii launched a sequel called Harukaze no Etranger (L'étranger du zéphyr or The Stranger of the Spring Breeze) in On Blue in July 2014.
