The Black Rock Shooter franchise began with an illustration posted on pixiv by huke on December 26, 2007. The illustration inspired a song with the same title made by the developer supercell using Hatsune Miku as Vocaloid , the franchise later gained an OVA and an anime in 2012 , as well as manga , games and even figures .
