The animation is by Bibury Animation and Bibury Animation CG. The direction is by Tensho , character designer Masayuki Nonaka and You Nakagawa .

The BLACK★★ROCK Shooter franchise began with an illustration posted on pixiv by huke on December 26, 2007. The illustration inspired a song with the same title made by the developer supercell using Hatsune Miku as Vocaloid , the franchise later gained an OVA anime adaptation in 2012 , as well as manga , games and even figures .
