The new anime Black Rock Shooter franchise will have around 12 episodes according to the series' blu-ray package. According to the official website , the series premiered on April 3 in Japan.

The BLACK★★ROCK Shooter franchise began with an illustration posted to pixiv by huke on December 26, 2007 . The illustration inspired a song with the same title made by developer Supercell using Hatsune Miku as Vocaloid , the franchise later gained an OVA and an anime in 2012 , as well as manga , games and even figures .
