In the July issue of Kodansha 's Afternoon anime of the Blade of The Immortal manga was announced . It has been confirmed by Kodansha that this anime adaptation will cover all of the manga's content.

Hiroaki Samura 's manga had 30 volumes, all published by Afternoon between 1993 and 2012. The manga is currently published in Brazil by publisher JBC with the title: Blade – The blade of the immortal and is in its 15th volume. Furthermore, in 2008, an anime adaptation by Production IG aired on Japanese TV.
