The new Bleach anime added a lot of extra material to the final arc to fill in the gaps left by the manga. This double episode fulfilled one of fans' biggest wishes: improving the Zero Division's fight. However, the anime went further by introducing Senjumaru's Bankai and explaining why the division restrains his powers.
According to the characters, each Zero Division member's Bankai is restricted by a blood pact because their power is so great that it can break the balance of the three worlds. In other words, to break one seal, three members must sacrifice their lives. Soon after Yhwach pressured the division, Senjumaru was chosen to end the fight.
His Bankai distorts reality through a Japanese Tori who creates various tales to trap each enemy in some sort of tragedy. Furthermore, the anime also gave more emphasis to the division's struggle with the Quincy .
In the manga, the only Zero Division member who stood out in this fight was Ichibei , while the others easily lost. Many fans lamented that these powerful characters didn't live up to their reputation, even though they were said to be stronger than the Gotei 13. Therefore, the anime heeded this request, showing their true power and why they needed to restrain themselves.
Synopsis:
Shortly after a series of Hollow murders and disappearances in the Rukongai district, Ichigo and his friends discover that the Quincy are indeed alive. To jog their memory, the Quincy are a supernatural order of humans who can manipulate reishi and kill Hollows instead of purifying them like the Soul Society. Everyone believed the Gotei 13 exterminated these enemies 1,000 years ago, but the Quincy remained in hiding, awaiting the return of their king, Yhwach.
