Fans of Blue Exorcist ( Ao no Exorcist ) were not expecting the announcement of the anime's continuation in 2022. Although at the time it wasn't stated whether it would be a reboot or a third season , a small clue has now confirmed that it is, in fact, a continuation.

Therefore, the Aniplex Online Fest begins on September 10th with several scheduled announcements. One block is set for the Blue Exorcist franchise, but it's listed as Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga. This title is more than enough to confirm that the newly announced project is a third season, since "Shimane Illuminati Saga," or "Illuminati Arc," is the sixth story arc of the original manga

Synopsis:

Rin Okumura and his brother Yukio are two teenagers raised by their adoptive father, Shiro Fujimoto, one of the world's greatest exorcists. When Rin discovers he possesses paranormal powers and is the son of one of the world's strongest demons, his father, Shiro Fujimoto, must sacrifice himself to protect his family from the demons. Intending to avenge Shiro Fujimoto's death, Rin wishes to become an exorcist. But to do so, he must participate in a special exorcist course, known to few.

The Blue Exorcist manga debuted in Jump SQ. in 2009. Finally, the first season arrived in 2011 through the animation studio A-1 Pictures with 25 episodes.
