Fans of Blue Exorcist ( Ao no Exorcist ) were not expecting the announcement of the continuation of the anime in 2022 . Although at that time it was not informed whether it would be a reboot or a third season , although now, a small clue has confirmed that, in fact, it is a continuation.

Aniplex Online Fest event begins on September 10th with several scheduled announcements. One block is set for the Blue Exorcist franchise, but it's listed as Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga. This title is more than enough to confirm that the newly announced project is a third season, as "Shimane Illuminati Saga," or "Illuminati Arc," is the sixth story arc of the manga .

Synopsis:

Rin Okumura and his brother Yukio are two teenagers raised by an adoptive father named Shiro Fujimoto, one of the world's greatest exorcists. When Rin discovers he possesses paranormal powers and is the son of one of the world's strongest demons, his father, Shiro Fujimoto, must sacrifice himself to protect his family from the demons. Intent on avenging Shiro Fujimoto's death, Rin aspires to become an exorcist. But to do so, he must complete a special exorcist course that few people know about.

The Blue Exorcist manga debuted in Jump SQ in 2009. Finally, the first season arrived in 2011 through the animation studio A-1 Pictures with 25 episodes.
