It is undeniable that Bocchi the Rock! is one of the most popular anime of the fall-2022 , currently occupying the second position in the ranking of the best-rated series of the season according to MyAnimeList, behind only Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War and above Chainsaw Man .
However, this numerical superiority comes even though the "Bocchi" that appears in the anime adaptation isn't entirely faithful to the one in the manga . We're not referring to her demeanor, which is socially awkward in both media, but to her physical attributes. Fans of the original series already had their doubts, but the most recent episode has confirmed them.
Bocchi The Rock! – Bocchi's breasts were reduced without explanation
Check it out:
Before a stage performance, Bocchi attends a maid cafe , so she obviously wears her signature outfit to serve customers. In the original manga, Bocchi could barely fit her large breasts into the outfit, but in the anime adaptation, it was reduced. Yes, it's a nerf, and one of the weakest.
The production had already hinted that Bocchi's breasts were smaller than in the original manga in previous episodes, but the final episode was the perfect proof of this fact. Why was this decision made? There's no clue as to what might have happened, although perhaps the production wanted Bocchi to become popular among fans because of her personality rather than her body, something they definitely achieved . Would Bocchi's popularity have been different if she had kept her large breasts? After all, let's remember that the manga has gone largely unnoticed until now.
Synopsis:
Lonely and eager to fit in, Hitori “Bocchi” Gotou spends her time playing the guitar. One fateful day, Bocchi meets the outgoing drummer Nijika Ijichi, who invites her to join the Kessoku Band when their guitarist, Ikuyo Kita, runs away before their first show. Soon after, Bocchi meets her newest partner, the brilliant bassist Ryou Yamada.
Though their first performance together is mediocre, the girls are strengthened by their shared love of music, and Kita soon joins them again. Finding joy in performing, Bocchi and her classmates put all their efforts into improving as musicians while making the most of their fleeting high school days.
