The final chapter of My Hero Academia , titled "More" 431, answered several curiosities and controversies, but left a central question unanswered: who is Deku's father? Although Kohei Horikoshi , the series' author, promised to reveal Hisashi Midoriya, Deku's father, in the final chapters, he never appeared. This absence frustrated fans who had been waiting for years for this revelation.

Horikoshi , in several interviews over the years, mentioned that Hisashi was working abroad and would return at some point to reunite with Deku and his wife, Inko Midoriya. However, the epilogue made no mention of him. The author didn't explain why he decided not to include the character, but there are a few hypotheses that may explain his absence.
Why did Deku never meet his father?
Since events like San Diego Comic Con 2018, Horikoshi has frequently answered questions about Hisashi by stating, "Deku's father will be revealed in the future." This promise in Boku no Hero Academia, however, was never fulfilled, leaving fans to speculate as to why. Horikoshi has confirmed few details about Hisashi: he possesses a Quirk that allows him to breathe fire and is currently out of Japan for work.
Some possible reasons for his absence include a lack of time to develop a full character arc. As the story progressed to more battle-focused arcs, such as the Paranormal Liberation War, Deku's family moments took a backseat. Including Hisashi in these contexts could have felt forced, diverting focus from the development of the already established villains and heroes.
Thus, another reason may be the priority given to other characters. Horikoshi concluded arcs for previously introduced heroes and villains, and including Hisashi would have taken up valuable narrative time.
The bond between Deku and his mother, Inko Midoriya
Despite Hisashi's absence, the Boku no Hero Academia series took the opportunity to strengthen Deku's relationship with his mother, Inko. Since childhood, Inko has been a key pillar for Deku, supporting his dreams of becoming the number one hero, even after discovering he was Quirkless. When Deku inherited One For All , she balanced her support with genuine concern for her son's safety.
Inko proved to be a loving and protective mother, even designing Deku's first hero costume. Despite disagreements, such as her initial resistance to the idea of Deku living in the UA dorms, she always wanted what was best for him. Her trust in her son and the UA teachers helped Deku grow as a person and a hero.
Although Hisashi wasn't revealed, the bond between Deku and Inko made up for some of that absence. Ultimately, Inko is an example of a mother who, with love and care, did everything in her power to support her son on his journey, showing that, even without his father's presence, Deku was never alone.
