The wait is almost over! The anime Call of the Night ( Yofukashi no Uta ) premieres its second season on July 4, 2025, promising to warm the hearts of romance and mystery fans. After all, it's been three years since Ko Yamori met the enigmatic vampire Nazuna Nanakusa, beginning a journey that defies day and night.
- Eiichiro Oda begins the biggest flashback of the One Piece saga
- Fire Force: Teaser reveals anime continuation for 2026
In the first season, we follow Ko, a teenager who has strayed from his usual routine after developing insomnia. On his nighttime walks through Tokyo, he meets Nazuna, a vampire who introduces him to the world of creatures of the night. Although Nazuna finds the vampire life boring, Ko longs to transform, but he can only do so by falling in love with her—which sparks conflicting feelings between them.
Call of the Night gains new dilemmas and old conflicts
However, conflicts escalated in the final episodes. The arrival of Anko Uguisu , a vampire hunter, added tension to the story. She killed a vampire in front of Ko and questioned his desires. Despite this, Nazuna and Ko reconciled, sharing a kiss and a promise to try to make their love worthwhile.
Therefore, the new season should delve deeper into Ko's dilemmas: whether to pursue an ordinary human life alongside friends like Akira and Mahiru, or to embrace eternity with Nazuna. Likewise, themes of identity, maturity, and purpose will be revisited with full force.
A season to fall in love again
Call of the Night undeniably captivates with its lighthearted treatment of the emotional turmoil of youth. The contrast between day and night symbolizes life's difficult choices—and the anime shows that courage and good friends make any journey possible.
However, Kotoyama launched the “Call of the Night” manga Weekly Shonen Sunday in August 2019. The anime adaptation is by the studio LIDENFILMS and is directed by Tomoyuki Itamura and written by Michiko Yokote .
