Receiving praise from a renowned manga artist is undoubtedly one of the greatest honors for a new series. That's exactly what happened with Centuria Shonen Jump+ exclusive manga , which received the seal of approval from Yukinobu Tatsu , author of Dandadan .

The author highlighted the impressive art and the way the story manages to convey humanity even in a dark setting. As Dandadan is one of Shonen Jump+'s biggest hits, Tatsu's support put the spotlight on Centuria , increasing interest in the title.

What makes Centuria special to Tatsu ?

Released in 2024 by Jump Comics+, Centuria has 35 chapters and three volumes published so far. The plot follows Julian, a young man sold into slavery by his own mother. After escaping on a slave ship, he encounters an ancient sea entity that grants him the powers of the 100 souls on board. With his new abilities, Julian dedicates himself to protecting his adoptive sister, Diana, while facing a world full of monsters and slavery.

Ultimately, despite its dark atmosphere and influences from Berserk and H.P. Lovecraft , the story conveys an optimistic message through the bond between the characters. Although still a fledgling title, fans hope that Yukinobu Tatsu will boost sales and, perhaps, lead to Centuria getting an anime adaptation in the future.
