The highly anticipated Chainsaw Man: The Movie: Arco da Reze has been given an 18+ rating , according to the Official Gazette. The Ministry of Justice cited the presence of "sexual content, legal drugs, and extreme violence" as justification for the decision.
Classification repeats Demon Slayer case
The move reignites debate following the recent incident with Demon Slayer: Infinite Castle , which was also rated R. Thus, the new Chainsaw Man follows suit, something fans expected due to the darker and more explicit tone of Tatsuki Fujimoto . It's worth noting that the animated series, available on Crunchyroll , had already received the same rating in Brazil.
With this decision, only those over 18 will be able to watch the film freely in theaters. Young people aged 16 and 17 will only be allowed in if accompanied by a legal guardian or with signed authorization. Entry for those under 16 remains prohibited .
Distributed by Sony Pictures , the film hits Brazilian cinemas on October 23 , with dubbed, subtitled, 3D and IMAX — being the first anime shown in the country with this technology.
The film adapts the manga's Reze Arc Lady Reze , who awakens feelings in Denji , but carries dangerous secrets.
