During the 2025-2026 Programming Press Conference , Toei's president and CEO, Fumio Yoshimura , announced the release of the company's new project, the film ChaO .

The film is scheduled to premiere in the summer , between June and August 2025. The official Studio 4°C X profile released a promotional image to announce the release. Check it out below:
Therefore, Studio 4°C (Berserk: Ougon Jidai-hen I) and producer Eiko Tanaka have been secretly developing the new animated film for the past 7 years. During the conference, Tanaka stated that the artists hand and produced over 100,000 drawings .
Synopsis of ChaO:
A future society where humans and mermaids coexist. Stephen, an office worker, is suddenly asked to marry ChaO, a princess from the mermaid kingdom! A 100% pure love story!
Yasuhiro Aoki (Kimagure Robot) is the director, Hirokazu Kojima (Deadman Wonderland) is the character designer and chief animation director, and Hiroshi Takiguchi (Ajin) is the art director.
Regarding Toei's new projects
Yoshimura took the stage and made a statement about Toei's future projects: “It has been three years since we began reforming under former president Osamu Tezuka, and we have an aggressive schedule […] we will focus even more on anime in partnership with a wide range of production companies, not just Toei anime works, and deliver beloved stories to the whole world centered on anime works. Toei that makes you cry.”
