“ When you work at a games company, it's like that. I've worked on big titles in the past, but I don't have any rights to them. People say I should go back to the old titles, I have to remind them that I don't have that option. Not being able to live up to fans’ expectations is something that bothers me, but with this independent project I will be able to act according to demand ,” says Inafune.
Mighty No. 9's screens bear a strong resemblance to the Capcom franchise, with a robotic character and two-dimensional gameplay. The story tells the adventure of robot number 9, one of the only ones not to be infected by a virus that is ravaging humanity.
According to Inafune's description, the game will revitalize mechanics from the 8 and 16-bit eras. The game is already in development for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC and should be released in 2015. The Kickstarter campaign, which has already raised more than US$2.5 million, ends in four days.
