Once Upon a Time goes to the bottom of the sea in its third season in November, with the introduction of Ariel (aka the Little Mermaid), her rugged boyfriend Prince Eric, and the wicked sea witch Ursula.
The story finds Ariel rescuing one of ABC 's regular fantasy before embarking on her own adventure, which incorporates elements from Disney's 1989 animated classic. “Once we realized we were going to Neverland , it seemed like the perfect place to see Ariel , ” says executive producer Edward Kitsis . As for speculation that Lana Parrilla 's Evil Queen will transform into Ariel 's eight-legged , Kitsis reveals , “In a world where our crocodile turns out to be Rumplestiltskin , you never know what might happen .”
Each episode focuses on a character's backstory. One segment details their life in the fairytale world, which, when revealed, adds a piece to the puzzle about the characters and their connection to the events that preceded the curse and its consequences. The other (segment), set in the present day, follows a similar pattern, with a different outcome, but also offers a similar insight.
